Trip to Kansai area, Japan

I visited this area during 23-30 May 2013 and went to see the famous spots in Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe. Due to the devaluation of Japanese yen, it is comparatively cheaper in every aspect than other European and American countries. Perhaps, it is one of the reasons why people from Hong Kong rush there.

Akashi Harbour Bridge, 26 May 2013

Arashiyama, Kyoto,25 May 2013
It is very windy but convenient to access.
Everyone may go there anytime as it is open round the clock and there's no entry charge. It is good for viewing sunrise and sunset.

The background is a famous wooden bridge connecting both shores of River Katsura. It is accessible via Hankyu rail lines and bus from the town center of Kyoto City.

Heien Mountain, Kyoto, 24 May 2013

This is the monument located near the entry of Enrikiji Temple where one may take a cable car ride down the mountain to Sakamoto town near Lake Biwa. It is accessible via Keihan rail lines from Osaka and Kyoto.

Trip to Malaysia

I visited the eastern coastal cities of Kuantan and Kuala Terengganu of Malaysia from 4 April to 12 April 2013. The most interesting places are the Tin mine museum at Sungai Lembing, Palace Museum at Pekan, and Islamic Cultural Park at Kuala Terengganu. They are not so popular among foreign visitors. However, local people regard them as cultural treasure and visit frequently.

The exhibits inside Sungai Lembing Museum such as mining equipments and workers' attire take visitors back to the glorious era of this small town, famous for its tin-ores during the early 20th century.

This picture was taken on 7 April, 2013. It is located at Pekan, a small town situated on the banks of Pahang River, about 50 km south of Kuantan City. Visitors can view several models of wooden ships inside this gallery, which is located next to the old palace, now named as Sultan Abu Bakar Palace.

This Chinese temple, located at Chinatown in Kuala Terengganu city, recognizes the obvious standing of immigrants from South China, most Cantonese. Visitors from Hong Kong find it convenient to communicate with them.
Tengu Tengah Zaharah Mosque, known as floating mosque, is built in 1994 on a submerged platform. As it is located at the estuary of Ibai River, it creates an illusion of floating when the water level rises during high tide.

This Chinese temple is located at Jalan Petaling, Kuala Lumpur. It is a typical feature of Chinatown.
Islamic Civilisation Park is the most distinguished attraction of the Teregganu state. This is the first theme park in the world to showcase Islamic architecture. This steel-made glittering grand structure, known as Crystal Mosque, is the park's icon. Visitors can view the replicas of 21 historic Islamic monuments, such as Taj Mahal in India, Grand Mosque of Xi-an in China, and Masjidil Haram in Saudi Arabia.

Travel to Kunming

Lijiang Old Town, 5 March,2013

I visited Lijiang, Dali, Stone Forest, and Kunming downtown from 4 to 11 March. Weather is warm and sunny, good for touring around. It is really always spring throughout the year.

Lijiang is an old town worth for visit. So, it is registered as a UNESCO heritage.
This alley is pasted with stones. In fact, almost all alleys are in similar conditions throughout the old town.

Lijiang Old Town, 5 March2013

This wooden house is typical at Lijiang Old Town.

Erhai Cruising Ship, 8 March 2013

There is a saying that a journey to Dali is not complete if you do not take the Erhai Cruises. When you are on board, you can see the beautiful lake view and enjoy the dancing performance by Pai young ladies. In addition, you are presented a keyholder with your photo as souvenir.

Tradition House of Pai Clan at Dali, 8 March 2013

White walls decorated with pictures and inscriptions is one of its characteristical appearance.

11 March, 2013, Jinma Square, Kunming

This area was prosperous in Ming & Qing dynasties. The building is now a traditional hostel for visitors.
However, it is surrounded by roads with busy traffic and is therefore rather noisy for the purpose.
