TRIP to KANSAI REGION encountering TYPHOON JEBI

ITINERARY

29 AUGUST  Hong Kong to Osaka by air, then from Kansai airport to Nara by train.
30 AUGUST Tour Nara Park and temples, shrines by bus.
31 AUGUST  Tour Kyoto: Ohara, Kibune; then to Kyobashi, Osaka
1 SEPTEMBER Osaka: Heritage building at Nakanojima area, Shitenoji Temple
2 SEPTEMBER Osaka: Ikutamajinja Shrine, underground shopping streets in Namba
3 SEPTEMBER Osaka: Yawata Shrine, Hirakata City and Kisaichi Town
4 SEPTEMBER The powerful typhoon Jebi made heavy rainfall in Kansai region.
                              Strolling around underground shopping areas in Shinsaibashi.
                               The underground sections of subway train service runs.
                               All land public traffic like bus and train were suspended.
5 SEPTEMBER It is sunny today. Land traffic resumed.However, Kansai airport was closed                                   due  to its runways were flooded by the storm surges.  
                             
                                                                
                            Visit Osaka Stocks Museum and Uji and Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto.
6 SEPTEMBER Earthquake in Hokkaido forced the closure of Chitose airport at Sapporo.
                             All foreign visitors flogged to airports in Tokyo and Nagoya.
                             Shopping in Osaka. We had to amended and prolonged the trip.
7 SEPTEMBER Stay at Hotel to search for flight to Hong Kong. The airport was partially 
                             opened to domestic flights. At last booking for a flight five days later was 
                             successful. For Hotels, stay two nights at Matsuzaka other 2 in Nara.
                             
8 SEPTEMBER Kyobashi, Osaka to Matsuzaka  by train.
9 SEPTEMBER Wife takes CX additional flight to Hong Kong from Nagoya.
10 SEPTEMBER Isejingu Shrine and Toba.
11 SEPTEMBER Igaueno Town
12 SEPTEMBER Emperor Jinmu tomb and imperial tomb at Fushimimomoyama.
                               Nara to Kansai airport by train and shuttle bus; evening flight to Hong
                               Kong.

              PM short visit to Tenmangu Shrine; due to cold weather, strolling along

14 Feb.Kobe: Ikutajinja Shrine, Old European Heritage in Kitano area

Kurama & Kibune are a pair of tranquil rural villages and easily accessible by a scenic 30-minute train north of Kyoto on Eizan line. 
Kurama-dera Temple is a mountain temple with a long history and a unique atmosphere. It is near the train station. There is a path from the main hall which circles the mountain through groves of towering cedar trees which scent the fresh air. It forms part of the hiking trail leading to Kibune Shrine which is made upwith three locations, namely, the main shrine, Yui no Yashiro, and the Okunomiya. Some people choose to take a certain course to make this pilgrimage.

  Daigoji is an important temple complex located in Fushimi-Ku, Kyoto. It includes an entire mountainside while the main entrance and affiliated temple buildings are located at the base of the mountain and are connected via a hiking trail to several more temples around the summit.

Katsura Imperial Garden, 16 Feb.
 Katsura Detached Palace is a villa with associated GARDENS AND OUTBUILDINGS in Nishikyo-Ku, Kyoto. Its gardens are considered a masterpiece of Japanese gardening, and the buildings are regarded as the representative Japanese architecture. It includes a shoin,tea houses,and a strolling garden.
To visit the garden, application in advance is required.

   Tour the Island by bus.

3 Februaey evening the ship arrived at Keelung Port, Taiwan.and docked overnight.
   Due the bad weather, the ship skipped Hualien Port.
4 February Go to Ping Xi area, Taipei by train. It was extremely  cold there and tour nowhere.

6 February The ship arrived at Hong Kong Kai Tak Cruise Terminal in the morning.
   The cruise trip ended here.
